The world of the onion can be categorised into three major types: yellow, red and white. The red onion, as we know it, for example, in Europe, has a relatively dark colour. Many regions of the world know a (red) onion that is considerably lighter in colour: the pink onion. Additionally, varieties are grown that are more violet or pink than our yellow onion. The Dutch have traditionally grown yellow onions, but, within the last 25 years, we’ve seen more and more red onions being grown, too.
Together with seed companies, M.B.Nieuwenhuijse B.V. developed a pink onion. It’s a cultivated variety of the yellow and red onion, with all the good qualities of each kind, combined to create its individual identity. This wonderful onion is ready to conquer the world. It allows us to meet the increasing demand of customers worldwide for a / their specifi c onion! In addition, this reasonably zesty onion will ensure a broader off ering on the European onion trade.
